FL is huge. Our people are diverse in character and opinion. We've recently made bad political decisions just like the United States. Our detractors don't hate us because of who we are. They hate us cause we hold a mirror up to the rest of the country and show them who they are
Suddenly everyone is talking about FL politics and like 90% of takes are very very very wrong. This must be how people in places like nyc feel
Immigrants are what made this country a place worth living in. They contribute culturally and economically, and deserve dignity and respect
What if we didn't violently dispossess the people of Latin America of their resources and wealth, force them to leave their country in search of a better life, and then label them a dehumanizing term to score cheap political points? Has anyone thought of this?
Tomorrow at the council meeting I'm introducing this resolution calling for a ceasefire, and supporting peace for all in Palestine and Israel
It's one thing to openly campaign as a moderate. But to lie about being progressive during your campaign, while taking in gobs of money from working class people desperately hoping you'll fight for a progressive future... Despicable. The worst kind of politician
I didn't think I was that important, but every article about the FL Dems chair race keeps blaming the party's misfortune on democratic socialism so I guess this is all my fault as the only elected democratic socialist. Sorry!
I'm not exaggerating when I say today is a huge day for the entire world. Bolsonaro's ecocide and fascism must be stopped. Lula is a good and honorable man, and the right person to lead the incredibly important nation of Brazil!
I got a few questions about the "box" I swore in on. Well inside the box was a bible that's been in my family since 1873. Likely one of the first things bought upon being freed from slavery. I'm grateful to have been able to bring so much history into this moment & this movem…
Officially a City Councilmember! I'm very grateful to have been able to share today with my amazing family and friends. Now it's time to get to work for St Pete's working people!
Wow, what a night! Every bit of effort was needed in the end. This win belongs to the working people of St Pete, and every single person that supported and fought alongside us! A better world is possible, and it starts in St Pete!
The status quo doesn't want to change, but we've fought like hell, and we'll continue to fight until we build a better world. No matter what happens tonight, I'm proud of what we accomplished. The future of our movement is bright.
Our victory yesterday made one thing clear—the majority of District 8 believes a better St. Pete is possible. Now, we're going to spread our message to every corner of this city! It will take all of us to win in November. Sign up to join the campaign at richiefloyd.com
I don't know what to say. Thank you so much to everyone who's supported us! You have shown that when working people come together, we can build a better world! On to the general!
How do you live with yourself when over 600k people died of covid in your own country and yet you obsess over the pandemic conditions of a country with a miniscule fraction of that? What is broken in your head?
It's official. We're the only campaign in the city to qualify by gathering petitions! Nothing's more important to me than being in touch with the people of District 8, and I will take this same approach as your council member!
This memorial day, like every other, I'm thinking of the working class kids that were forced by lack of opportunity into a career that ended up taking their lives, all due to the greed of imperialism and war profiteering.
It is not normal to want to work 40+ hours a week just to exist. Anyone trying to make you think it's normal is either seeking to exploit you for their profit, or has had their brain poisoned by the exploiters
