After months of stalling, the Brazilian court responsible for approving service to Alexandre de Moraes in the Rumble case (@STJnoticias) has now referred Rumble’s request to serve Moraes with the U.S. lawsuit in Florida to the Brazilian Attorney General’s Office (PGR) under seal to decide if it wants to take a position. This means the Brazilian system is now debating whether Moraes can even be served with notice that he’s being sued for censorship, which is something that should be automatic under the Hague Convention. While every ordinary citizen is served in days, Moraes enjoys special treatment and layers of bureaucratic protection. The process has been quietly buried behind confidential orders, as if due process itself were a state secret.
