“If the [Iranian] regime is left in power… then we are definitely going to have to rethink our footprint in the Middle East,” warns former Pentagon and State spokesman John Kirby.
“Clearly, even a degraded, greatly diminished Iran… can still lash out and strike at civilian and military targets throughout the region. So I think if the regime is left in power, if that's where this ends up, then we're going to have to completely review our footprint in the Middle East and what that security posture looks like.”
