.@MaryamAlemzadeh is an expert on the IRGC and tells me that while the Islamic Republic has been militarily weakened, “that’s never been the strength of the IRGC,” arguing its penetration is still intact:
“It's not going to be an easy takeover for the protesters, who I believe are the majority of the population now, because the weapons are still in the hands of the IRGC and Basij, and they do not need the more advanced equipment that has been destroyed to some extent in order to repress a popular uprising.”
