Finland is a long-standing, reliable and important ally of the Netherlands, both bilaterally and – more recently – within NATO.
And in light of the war in Ukraine, our ties have only become stronger. So it was important to get to know Finnish president @alexstubb without delay. We discussed the recent developments in the Middle East and the importance of providing ongoing support to Ukraine while turning up the pressure on Russia.
We also looked ahead to the next meeting of JEF leaders in Helsinki at the end of March. This is a regional political and military partnership of which Finland and the Netherlands are members. I look forward to meeting the president in person then.
