For decades, Latin America has been among the world’s most critical regions when it came to Israel’s systemic human rights abuses in Palestine. But following a wave of elections in 2025–2026, the region’s political landscape is shifting, with several governments taking a much more favourable stance towards Tel Aviv despite its ongoing genocide in Gaza. In recent months, the new leaders of Chile, Colombia, Honduras, Peru, and Venezuela have all moderated their positions towards Israel, joining Argentina and Bolivia, which have reinforced their cooperation with Tel Aviv since 2023. Right now, all eyes are on Brazil, where a presidential election in October could reshape the political balance in the region for years to come.
