Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has confirmed that four Canadian service members were killed and dozens seriously wounded in an incident during a training exercise Saturday at Canadian Forces Base Wainwright in Alberta. The incident triggered a large fire that started in the base’s training area around 4 p.m. and spread past the base boundary in high winds. Defence Minister David McGuinty said he cannot recall an incident like this in recent memory, and the Armed Forces say there is no indication of terrorism. The Prime Minister did not elaborate on the nature of the incident or total number of injured or personnel who have been killed. The CBC has reported seven fatalities from this incident.
