On behalf of the Government and people of Guyana, and my own behalf, I extend my warmest congratulations to His Excellency Abelardo de la Espriella on your inauguration as the Thirty- Sixth President of the Republic of Colombia. I am confident that under your leadership, Colombia will continue to pursue peace, prosperity, and economic development for the benefit of the Colombian people. Guyana and Colombia share a strong partnership built on security cooperation, economic advancement and a commitment to the preservation of territorial integrity and the rule of law. I look forward to working closely with you to bolster this partnership and to strengthen our cooperation across the areas of trade, investment, counter-narcotics efforts, and the protection of our sovereign borders.
