A separação entre Igreja e Estado foi um dos avanços mais importantes da sociedade moderna. Entre outras razões, ela surgiu para pôr fim à perseguição religiosa.
No Brasil, esse tipo de dinâmica voltou a se manifestar com a entrada do movimento evangélico na política. Quando pastores como Paulo Marcelo, no trecho acima, se recusam a alinhar sua influência à extrema direita, passam a ser isolados, pressionados e excluídos de seus próprios círculos religiosos.
Ao produzir Apocalipse nos Trópicos, ficou claro para mim por que o voto evangélico se tornou tão estratégico para o bolsonarismo. Trata-se de um projeto de poder aliado ao fundamentalismo religioso, uma combinação perigosa e profundamente antidemocrática.
