I am deeply grateful to the Diller-von Furstenberg Family Foundation and Diane von Furstenberg for their enduring commitment to women whose courage and service are changing lives. Through their philanthropy, they have given women the recognition, resources and support to carry their work further and reach those too often overlooked. To receive the @DVF Leadership Award is profoundly humbling. I also thank @AminaJMohammed for her generous introduction, offered with such warmth and kindness. I accepted this honour mindful of the women whose work too often goes unseen, whose courage carries families through hardship, and whose daily acts of love hold communities together. As I said that evening, “There are women who must sustain families and livelihoods at the same time. For them we stand and we fight.” The grant accompanying this honour will go to the Barbados Climate School, helping the children of my nation build the resilience to carry this work forward. It means everything to me that this recognition will help prepare another generation to do its part. May we each lift our part of the weight, with the love, courage and humanity these times demand.
