This morning, we lost our dear Beryl Bridgeman at the age of 103, a faithful stalwart of the Barbados Labour Party and a cherished member of our St. Michael Central family.
Even in her nineties, Beryl was still serving as Branch Treasurer, still attending Parliament, still coming out and lending a hand. In government and in opposition, her commitment never wavered. She believed in this party, and she kept doing the work.
From frying fishcakes at social gatherings to sharing her remarkable knowledge of the St. Michael Central constituency and our party, Beryl gave generously of herself. She knew so much, had seen so much, and remained humble and kind through it all. Hers was a life that showed us what service means.
In a year when we have said farewell to so many outstanding Barbadians, her passing is another painful loss.
On behalf of a grateful Barbados Labour Party, I extend heartfelt condolences to her loved ones, our St. Michael Central family and the wider party membership.
Take your rest now, dear Beryl. You have served faithfully. May we honour your example in the work we carry forward.
