Today, Barbados said farewell to one of its brightest daughters. Dr. Shelly-Ann Cox reminded us that a life is not measured by its length, but by its purpose. She brought brilliance, compassion and humility to her work, believing deeply that science must always serve people. It is fitting that she spent her final hours doing exactly that, standing alongside the fisherfolk and communities she was so committed to serving. Our duty now is to carry her legacy forward. To serve with the same integrity, the same compassion and the same unwavering commitment to country that defined her life. On behalf of a grateful nation I extend sincere condolences to her family, friends and colleagues. To her loved ones, we say thank you for sharing Shelly-Ann with Barbados, we will forever honour her service.
