I was deeply heartened to spend time with 26 extraordinary youths at our Mukti Ashram in Delhi. They have traveled from 11 countries to take part in the first ever Satyarthi Summer School. It was the first time so many youth leaders have come together with the drive to build a compassionate world. This reaffirms my trust in the power of youth.
During our interactive session, one participant asked, “How should we deal with oppressors?” I said compassion does not mean sparing the oppressor. We must hold them accountable. But we should not waste resources fighting oppressors through hate or revenge. We have to dismantle the systems responsible for oppression through transformative compassion.
The Satyarthi Summer School is part of our initiatives to build compassionate communities across the world, beginning with youth.
