Apologies for my absence from social media and lack of interaction lately. Life has its challenges, and I too have been navigating my own. For some reason, I stopped singing and withdrew from the world, like Winnie the Pooh sitting halfway down the stairs. But today, I want to break free from that shell and share a song that has been playing relentlessly in my head. Here's my relaxed rendition of Joni Mitchell's 'Both Sides, Now.' jd It's not perfect. But then it's not meant to be. I've got words wrong and pitching and breathing wrong but it's the story I connect with. The song to me speaks to lost innocence, acknowledging the bittersweet parting from comfort and illusions as we grow. Like clouds, they can still cast shadows or build castles for our dreams.
