Today in Ramallah, ITUC General Secretary Luc Triangle met with Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa and representatives of the Palestinian Authority to discuss the worsening economic and social situation, rising unemployment and the urgent need to defend Palestinian workers’ rights. Thousands of Palestinian workers have been prevented from reaching their workplaces inside Israel for nearly three years, depriving them of vital income. Increased international pressure is needed to end restrictions on workers’ freedom of movement, restore access to employment, ensure payment of outstanding wages and create new job opportunities. The ITUC stressed the importance of strengthening workers’ rights, empowering women and investing in skills, technological development and employment opportunities for young Palestinians. The ITUC reaffirmed its solidarity with its affiliate, the PGFTU, and with Palestinian workers, as well as its commitment to defending their rights and livelihoods, promoting decent work and supporting international efforts to improve their living and working conditions. @luc_triangle @PGFTU2 @ArabTradeUnion @ITUCAsiaPacific @ITUC_Africa @CSA_TUCA @ETUC_CES @ILO @ILOACTRAV @jordaniaurena04 @manzieric65
