UNESCO adds the Andaman Subduction Volcanoes, comprising Narcondam Island and Barren Island in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, to India’s World Heritage Tentative List.
Shaped by the Indian Plate sliding beneath the Burma microplate, these two volcanic islands bring together dramatic volcanic landscapes and unique island ecosystems, home to the endemic Narcondam Hornbill, set amid vibrant coral reefs and rich marine life.
