If you're too busy to fact check – you're too busy to share. When we read about an injustice or an atrocity that makes us furious, we have the urge to share our outrage. But we should first verify what we’ve read. Do the facts check out? Is it reported by credible sources? We shouldn’t dump unverified outrage on our friends and family. But what if we're too busy to fact-check? Well, if we are really that busy, then we don't have to do anything at all. Instead of saving time by not fact-checking, busy people can save even more time by not sharing. Sharing carelessly doesn’t help anyone. It just floods the world with anger. Be aware before you share. Share knowledge, not outrage.
