Any America leftist who looks at the resounding vote of Brazilians this week against the party that has occupied their country's presidency for 18 of the past 24 years, and casually announces that the main cause or even a major cause of their collective decision is US interference, is ignorant in the extreme, pathologically self-centered, and/or sociopathically indifferent to the lives of the 220 million Brazilians whose lives they arrogantly think they can diagnose from a long distance.
It's just a combination of primitive, ideological, in-group brain rot and infinite arrogance: exactly like Democrats blaming Russia for their electoral losses rather than trying to grapple with why the people they are supposed to serve have instead come to hold them in such contempt.
Yet, the US Government interferes in most elections and has for decades. It's intensified its interference in Latin America under Trump. But ordinary Brazilians have an endless list of valid, pressing grievances against the dominant political class and -- regardless of whether Bolsonaro will fix or improve those (he quite arguably won't) -- those grievances are what drove this election.
