During the War on Terror, many Americans were trained to justify anything the US Govt did -- lifelong prison without charges, warrantless spying, torture, "rendition," drone massacres at weddings -- by claiming it was just done to "the terrorists," even though they had no way to know that, and it was false.
Now some Americans do that for Israel: they see entire families vaporized or little girls blown up and they'll say: yeah, Israel is killing the terrorists! It's morally repugnant and intellectually vacant in equal measure.
