Today Stephen Hubbard is coming home. After more than four years in Russian custody, our client Stephen has been released. Ten weeks after Robert Gilman’s release from Russia, another American family’s long wait is ending. The road to peace is difficult, but its human dividends need not wait for a final agreement. Sustained engagement can bring Americans home even while profound disagreements remain. Thank you to @POTUS @realDonaldTrump for personally pressing for Stephen’s freedom, and to @SecRubio, @SEPeaceMissions, @jaredkushner and @StateSPEHA for their persistence and dedication to seeing this through. We also welcome Russia’s decision to release Stephen on humanitarian grounds. May today’s result open the way for more Americans to come home and further progress toward lasting peace.
