To get a sense of how big @FlavioBolsonaro and @jairbolsonaro’s win was you should look at the municipal level. It shows clearly the scale of @LulaOficial’s deterioration as his vote percentage declined from 2022 in 98% of Brazil’s municipalities and 25 of 27 states. Nationally, Lula lost approximately 3.38 million votes, falling from 48.43% in 2022 to 45.16%. Conversely, Flavio improved upon Jair Bolsonaro’s 2022 percentage in approximately 98% of municipalities. The erosion crosses regional and socioeconomic lines rather than being confined to a few hostile states. This makes Lula’s recovery potentially irreversible. Lula must both reclaim previous supporters and mobilize a significant portion of the record 33.4 million first-round abstainers.
