The U.S. court process to serve Alexandre de Moraes is now before Brazil’s Superior Court of Justice (STJ). This is a procedural step that any country committed to due process and treaty obligations would naturally follow. We have every confidence that Brazil’s institutions will handle this request in accordance with the law and with respect for the bilateral commitments both our countries have made. This step is about allowing the lawful process to run its course so all parties can be heard in the proper forum. That’s what strengthens institutions and rebuilds trust. One case should not define a nation’s reputation. This is an opportunity to show that Brazil’s judiciary and executive alike stand for fairness and the rule of law.
