Let's talk transcripts, AI and journalism. Reuters recently announced a new AI transcription feature: time-coded transcripts of live events, with real-time clipping that takes a client from a live moment to a published quote in minutes. I built a one-person version of that workflow at the UN for "The Race to Run the UN" site I built that tracks the candidates for the next Secretary-General. I added strict verification standards. The news from Reuters prompted me (pun intended) to write an essay on how I did it. What worked, what didn't, and where a machine transcript nearly reversed a candidate's meaning.
