An Israeli strike targeted a marked press car in southern Lebanon on Saturday, killing Ali Shoeib of Al Manar TV, reporter Fatima Ftouni of Al Mayadeen TV, and her brother, freelance cameraman Mohamed Ftouni. Israel's military said it had targeted Shoeib, accusing him of being a Hezbollah intelligence operative, without providing evidence. It made no mention of the two others killed. Protesters gathered in Martyrs' Square in Beirut on Saturday, holding photos of the journalists killed in an Israeli airstrike. Israel has now killed at least 11 journalists in Lebanon since October 7, 2023, according to the Committee to Protect Journalists.
