The House just voted 237–169 to punish colleges that choose to boycott Israel by threatening their federal funding. They call it the “Protect Economic and Academic Freedom Act.” But there is nothing free about using federal funding to silence students and universities protesting Israel’s genocide, apartheid and military occupation.
Boycotts have a long history as a tool for justice, from the Civil Rights Movement to the struggle against South African apartheid. Now this fight could move to the Senate. Call your senators and tell them: protect the right to boycott. Reject any bill that punishes colleges for boycotting Israel.
