“The anger is widely spread” in Lebanon, says @DMiliband. “There's anger at Hezbollah for dragging Lebanon into the war. There's anger at Israel for the way in which it's conducting the campaign. There's anger at America. There's anger at their own government. There's a lot of anger, and the tension is high because a whole society is at risk.”
In addition, he says, massive humanitarian aid cuts “are compounding the problem,” with research pointing to an increase in global conflicts since they came into force.
“Yes, it's about politics that has broken down, but it's also about basic humanity that's broken down.”
