H.E. ๐๐๐ก๐ฆ๐จ๐ฎ๐ ๐๐ฅ๐ข ๐๐จ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐จ๐ฎ๐ was elected as the incoming Chairperson of the African Union Commission. He will be to be deputised by H.E. ๐๐๐ฅ๐ฆ๐ ๐๐๐ฅ๐ข๐ค๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ข.
Both mandates are for four years, renewable once.
The two leaders were elected and sworn in at the 38th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government.
They garnered the required two thirds majority votes of the 49 member states eligible to vote. 6 AU member states are under sanctions and therefore ineligible to vote.
The elections and appointments of the AU Commission Commissioners were conducted during the Executive Council session of Ministers of Foreign Affairs.
