Africa must take a deliberate approach to how its citizens are treated when they seek work across borders. Bilateral Labour Agreements (BLAs) are central to that effort. They must be thorough, detailed, and informed by every actor along the labour migration cycle, to ably protect migrant workers and promote decent work. That is why the African Union’s Joint Labour Migration Programme (@JLMPCoordinator) has developed Continental Guidelines on Developing Bilateral Labour Agreements, a practical tool for governments and partners during negotiations. The Guidelines provide a complete BLA process of (i) preparation and drafting; (ii) negotiation and adoption; (iii) implementation and follow-up; and (iv) monitoring and evaluation. #JLMP Find the guidelines:
