The Chairperson of the African Union (AU) Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, received the Letters of Credentials of Mr. Mame Ibrahima Tounkara, Head of the Delegation of the @ICRC to the AU. The discussions underscored the imperative of strengthening international humanitarian law (IHL) & preserving multilateralism amid escalating conflicts & growing humanitarian needs. The Chairperson @ymahmoudali stressed the protection of civilians, respect for international law & the dignity of migrants, highlighting the urgent need to address forced displacement & humanitarian crises. He also emphasised that effective humanitarian action requires predictable & adequate financing, stronger international solidarity & enhanced coordination among relevant actors. Mr. Tounkara outlined ICRC's global initiative to strengthen respect for IHL.
