WHO
The conflict in the Middle East and beyond is putting health at risk in many countries, and in many ways. Recent strikes on energy plants and industrial areas where chemical are used or stored have already shown some of the impacts of a chemical incident. The health risks can include: •Skin, eye and respiratory irritation •Headache, dizziness or nausea •Vomiting, muscle twitching, bronchoconstriction •Mental health stress •And in severe cases, respiratory failure, convulsions, coma, death Children, elderly persons and pregnant women are particularly at risk. WHO works with countries to help them prepare for incidents related to chemical, biological, nuclear or radiological incidents, including ensuring health workers know what to do, and are protected themselves. WHO urges all parties to work towards peace, for the health and wellbeing of everyone t.co/BNA06sQv9F
