Today, the Trump administration announced new sanctions against the @IntlCrimCourt, on the same day Navi Pillay was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. This is a direct attack on international justice. The EU cannot stand idly by while the ICC is targeted by Trump. We again urge the European Commission to activate the EU Blocking Statute to protect EU citizens and companies from having to comply with these sanctions. Our world must be built on principles, not power. That is why the S&D Group is nominating the ICC and its officials for the 2026 Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought, the European Parliament’s highest human rights honour.
