Finally, the EPP has started tackling the far-right problem within its ranks. Today’s expulsion of MEP Grims, a close ally of Janša, is the right decision. This should not be the end, but the beginning of the EPP’s reckoning with right-wing extremism. We have sounded the alarm time and again: Janša’s entire party should be expelled for: - its erosion of democracy and justice, - attacks on journalists, women, civil society, and trade unions, and - open disregard for EU institutions, including this Parliament.
