Very sad to report that Richard Gott, my oldest friend in this country who I first met in 1965,died early this morning. I was going to see him at 11 am. Am writing an obituary for the Verso Blog that should be up tomorrow, together wiuth Perry Anderson's riveting review of Richard's book on Cuba.
