When we see headlines like THIS, it’s no wonder working people are demanding their unions! 6.5 million workers were represented by unions last year, the highest level recorded in 16 years, accounting for 11.2% of all wage and salary workers in America. In addition, the percentage of workers in a union increased nationally. The uptick in union membership coincides with high public approval ratings, with 71% of Americans approving of labor unions (up from 48% in 2009) and 47% wanting unions to have more influence (up from 25% in 2009).
