One week after power was restored, residents in majority-Black Gary, IN are once again without electricity. It shouldn’t need to be said, but our tax dollars should be going towards reconnecting our communities with their loved ones but unfortunately self-interested politicians are prioritizing enriching themselves and their corporate donors. Since beginning his 2nd term Trump has rolled back DEI initiatives, signed executive orders to minimize educational efforts that focus on structural racism in America, and championed policies that have resulted in worsened economic prospects for Black workers including 300,000 Black women being laid off in 3-month period in 2025.
