I voted No on the resolution condemning democratic socialists. Democratic socialists are fighting for taxing billionaires, medicare for all, and no foreign wars. FDR built the greatest governing coalition in American history by bringing together labor, farmers, business leaders, public intellectuals, Southern Democrats, and people who called themselves “socialists.” They agreed that concentrated wealth had failed the country and that government had a duty to give working people dignity. We need a New Deal Coalition for our time.
