Throughout my time in Congress, I have joined a pilgrimage to honor the Freedom Marchers who faced such vicious cruelty on what we now know as Bloody Sunday.
The memory of my brother John Lewis' courage and moral clarity was with me as I crossed the Edmund Pettus Bridge for my 19th and final time as a sitting Member of Congress. It will stay with me as I work to uphold the civil rights and voting rights those peaceful patriots fought to secure.
