This Thursday, the Security Council holds its first straw poll on candidates for United Nations Secretary-General.
Over the past few months, I have met with Member States across every region, visited capitals, and engaged with ministers and Heads of State and Government. Those conversations have shaped my vision for the role: one defined by strict impartiality, grounded in the UN Charter, and dedicated to serving all countries, big and small.
A Secretary-General must be present when it matters and capable of bringing people together when consensus seems out of reach. That is the standard by which I believe the next leader of the UN should be judged. #newUN
