The UN Charter promised to save succeeding generations from the scourge of war. I know that keeping that promise means hard work. In 2022, with a war underway, I spearheaded UN's talks on food and fertilizer, resulting in the deal that kept almost 33 million tonnes of grain flowing through the Black Sea. Food prices fell, and the impact was felt at family tables across the world. Diplomacy works when it improves people's lives. #newUN
