Last night Socialist Summer School continued with Learning From Defeats on the Road to Revolution, led by Scott Will. The session focused on the St. Louis Commune and the Great Railroad Strike of 1877 and its pitfalls, exposing that despite its ultimate defeat we can look to this history as grounds for study. Similar to the Paris Commune, the history shows us that workers must commit not just piecemeal demands or be satisfied with experiments in dual-power, but rather to the entirely of a revolutionary project. Together, we explored how temporary setbacks like that of the commune help define victories that extend beyond immediate gains, building the collective capacity and endurance necessary for long-term revolutionary struggle. ✅ Continue to study with us!
