🎬 Join us this Thursday at the Robeson Cinema for a screening of Canoa: A Shameful Memory (1976), directed by Felipe Cazals, as part of our October film series, Horrors of the Ruling Class.
Based on true events, Canoa recounts the brutal 1968 attack on a group of university workers in a rural Mexican village, where a local priest exploits anti-communist hysteria to incite violence against innocent visitors.
Through a chilling portrayal of political manipulation, religious authority, and mob violence, the film exposes how fear of communism can be weaponized to protect existing power structures and turn ordinary people against one another.
