Tonight's class, "Capitalism Is a Dead End," led by Thejas Wesley, took a look at where our current system is heading. We focused primarily on the unchecked expansion of AI technology and the sprawling data centers that power it, examining their devastating environmental footprint, from skyrocketing energy consumption to water depletion and electronic waste. We connected these ecological costs to the broader cascade of crises capitalism accelerates with endless war, deepening wage inequality, housing instability, and the erosion of public goods.
Together, these forces are pushing us toward multiple points of no return. The question that remains was not if this system will break, but when, and what we might still do to chart another path, a socialist path for a better world!
