100 Years of Fidel Today, August 13, 2026, we mark the centennial of Fidel Castro’s birth: a leader who dedicated his entire life to the Cuban Revolution, the construction of socialism and the cause of the oppressed around the world. Fidel helped to forge Cuba’s sovereignty — and that struggle continues today. Just 90 miles from the United States, the Cuban Revolution triumphed, proving that a small nation could deliver free healthcare and free education while building a legacy of internationalist solidarity — one that still sends Cuban doctors across the world, wherever they’re needed most, including to disaster zones. For over six decades, the U.S. blockade has sought to strangle Cuba’s economy, restricting medicine, fuel, food, and other essentials for the Cuba people. Trump’s oil blockade have caused massive blackouts as the US continues to threaten war on the island. To commemorate Fidel Castro at 100 is to honor both his dedication and the revolution he led and to renew the commitment to end the blockade, remove Cuba from the terrorism list, and defend Cuba’s right to sovereignty.
