A budget is a choice about the future we want, and whose needs we put first. Europe’s next long-term budget must mean homes people can afford; quality jobs and public healthcare they can rely on. It must give communities the means to thrive, wherever they are, and invest in a greener, more innovative and secure Europe. PES Presidency adopted a declaration on the EU budget for 2028–2034, setting out progressive priorities. Our message is clear: financing must be consistent with our shared ambitions. We need resilient and sustainable revenue streams to protect social policy, cohesion and agriculture, finance European public goods and new priorities, convergence on new genuine own resources will be key to a balanced overall agreement.
