International justice must never be intimidated or silenced. Congratulations to the @IntlCrimCourt (ICC) and its officials on receiving the 2026 Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought, following its nomination by the @TheProgressives Group. At a time when the Trump administration is imposing sanctions that threaten the Court’s independence and its ability to deliver justice, this award sends a powerful message. Europe must stand firm in defending the ICC and the independence of international justice. As @UN Secretary-General @antonioguterres has said, “the force of law must always prevail over the law of force”. That principle must hold for everyone, without exception.
