Silencing independent media is an attack on democracy. The raid on Halk TV, the detention of 11 people and the appointment of a trustee are deeply alarming developments for press freedom in Türkiye. We condemn these actions and stand in solidarity with Halk TV, its journalists, workers and their families. Erdoğan’s crackdown on press freedom continues. Critical voices must be protected, not silenced. We stand alongside our sister party @yenipartiyiz and its leader @eczozgurozel in defending democracy and fundamental freedoms. We call on the European Union to publicly condemn these actions and demand full respect for press freedom and independent journalism in Türkiye.
