Dialogue and cooperation are essential to building peace and stability in the Middle East. PES Secretary General @giacomofilibeck and PES Deputy Secretary General Saar Van Bueren visited Ramallah, Palestine, for talks with the Palestinian Authority and Fatah. During the visit, they held discussions with Yasser Abbas, the Palestinian Authority’s High Commissioner for International Affairs, on the current situation, the implications of the Israeli elections for Palestinians, and the PA’s efforts to restore peace and stability. Following PES President Stefan Löfven’s call for the liberation of Marwan Barghouti at the last PES Presidency, the PES also met with Arab Barghouti and Fadwa, the son and wife of Marwan Barghouti, to convey his message of solidarity.
