Democracy and the rule of law are under attack in #Türkiye. As @dk_imamoglu, wife of imprisoned mayor of Istanbul @ekrem_imamoglu, said in her address to the #PESCongress25, courts are being used as an instrument by Erdoğan to silence opposition. Those critical of the government – journalists, intellectuals, trade unionists, citizens and mayors from opposition parties – are being persecuted and thrown in jail. We stand with Ekrem, @eczozgurozel, @herkesicinCHP, and the entire democratic opposition: the rule of law must be respected by Mr Erdoğan.
