While the United States has lived through traumatic events before, does anything compare to what happened on Sept. 11, 2001? "We want some parallel to help us know where we're standing. But nothing quite worked, to be honest," historian David Blight told PBS News' @JudyWoodruff. "This was such an immediate, in one hour, mass murder that no one quite could process that. That takes historical time. Even then, I don't think most Americans could process it, if they ever did, for a very long time." Blight joined Woodruff for her series, Crossroads: America at 250.
