The Netherlands wants to be a driving force for positive change in the EU. This is a fitting role for the Netherlands. It is necessary in order to help shape a Europe that occupies a strong position in the world. We must work together to build a stronger, more secure and more competitive Europe.
I emphasised these points today in my talks with the President of the European Council, António Costa (@eucopresident), the President of the European Commission, Ursula @vonderleyen, and the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola (@EP_President). I am glad to have had the chance to visit the three major EU institutions in my second week in office. I look forward to a constructive partnership and to taking the first steps at the European Council later this month.
